When God Calls - My Blogging Journey

When God calls: My blogging Journey.

(Part 1 of 2)

Do you ever wonder what your true calling is?

That question has followed me for as long as I can remember. I’ve chased the answer in

many directions, believing I could figure it out if I tried hard enough, planned better, or

listened closer. Yet every time I thought I had it right, I eventually realized I had missed

the mark. What I didn’t understand then—but see clearly now—is that a calling isn’t

something we uncover through striving. It’s something revealed through surrender.

This blog is not a polished testimony of instant clarity. It’s a raw, unfolding journey—one

shaped by trial and error, frustration, uncertainty, and divine interruption. For years, God

was dropping hints along the way, but I couldn’t have guessed where He was leading

me, even if I tried. Only recently did I begin to recognize that I had been responding to a

call all along—one that arrived quietly, patiently, and with far less effort than I expected.

What you’re about to read is a series of real journal entries, written over time, revealing

how a calling can come in many forms. You’ll see how timing matters, how clarity often

comes after obedience, and how God delivers His direction not through force—but

through alignment.

Seeking God’s Will

Aug. 28, 2022

I don’t recall who first mentioned the idea of blogging to me, but after some initial

research, I decided that investing in a channel wasn’t for me—and I dropped the idea.

However, a few days later, during a conversation with my friend in Oregon, she

suggested vlogging—creating video content instead.

That idea sparked something in me.

I began researching again, and before long, I had set up my own YouTube platform and

chosen a name. Everything seemed to fall into place effortlessly, as if it was meant to

be. At the time, I didn’t question it. I was simply curious to see where this journey might

lead.

Jan. 16, 2023 - One Year Later

After completing my first seven videos, I worked tirelessly until December. Eventually, I

took a break so I could focus on finishing my book. During that time, through

networking, I connected with a woman who later added me on social media. I soon

discovered she was a life coach — a career path that has become increasingly popular.

In one of our conversations, she mentioned that she could see me as a successful

public speaker. This caught my attention, not because it was new information, but

because it wasn’t the first time someone had spoken those words over me. Once again,

a familiar theme surfaced — quietly, without urgency — and I took note.

Sept. 27, 2023

Feeling a growing desire to help others, I decided to explore the world of life coaching

more seriously. I began reviewing my college qualifications and thought carefully about

what potential clients might need and how I could best support them.

While sorting through some old class materials, I came across a book with a chapter on

presentation skills. As I reread it, something clicked. Public speaking suddenly felt like a

natural outlet for my desire to help people. This realization caused me to pause and

reflect. The idea kept resurfacing, and I couldn’t ignore the pattern forming.

Could it be that public speaking — not life coaching — was the true calling God had

been placing before me all along?

Update: November 28

By this point, I had created 25 blogs before running into a series of obstacles. I

struggled to motivate my editor, felt increasingly restless, and slowly began to lose

interest. The momentum I once had faded, leaving me confused and unsure of my next

step.

In frustration, I turned to prayer.

Not long after, I began noticing short videos on social media discussing the complexities

of writing a book and how closely it connects to public speaking. This information was

entirely new to me. As I continued researching, I also learned more about the publishing

and marketing process. Rather than feeling forced, it all seemed to flow naturally — as if

I were being gently redirected instead of stopped.

Without much effort on my part, my writing journey appeared to be expanding on its

own.

Digging Deeper

June 23, 2024

I grunted when I saw on LinkedIn that videos were becoming the new trend.

Ugh, not again.

That same day, I had a meeting with someone from the church I had been experiencing

challenges with. My main intention was to help her see how the spirit of the devil was

using the situation, but the message wasn’t received. The issue was denied altogether.

Afterward, as I processed the encounter, I realized I could have explained myself

differently — but what was done couldn’t be changed.

Still, that experience revealed something deeper.

It caused me to reflect on why some people lack the patience to allow others time to

process information, or why certain individuals expect immediate answers. Through this

reflection, new concepts surfaced in my mind.

They weren't topics I had seen discussed on social media. It felt important, though

perhaps not yet ready. I wondered if it might require a video to explain properly, but the

urge wasn’t there. My only conclusion was that maybe this message was meant for later

— perhaps after my book was published.

Another thought followed: How will I become a podcast guest if I don’t have videos to

show that I know what I know?

That made sense to me.

For now, I knew I needed to wait on the Lord for clearer instructions. At this point, it was

becoming evident that life coaching might not be my role after all — at least not in the

way I once imagined. Time would tell.

Did you notice the pattern in my thought process as I wrote this journal entry? One

thought led to another, which opened the door to new questions — and then,

unexpectedly, to new possibilities.

This is often how the Lord speaks.

Sometimes nothing happens. Sometimes words don’t come at all. Perhaps it’s simply a

matter of timing. What’s important is remaining open — because when the timing is

right, clarity follows.

Read what happens in the next entry, and notice that it took place over a year later.

Oct. 13, 2025 — Thanksgiving Day

A friend called and asked if I wanted to go for coffee. During our conversation, I

mentioned an email I had sent to someone, asking:

“How does one person’s faith outgrow another Christian’s faith, if we all follow Jesus?”

My friend paused and then told me something that deeply resonated. She said my

hunger wasn’t like that of most Christians. According to her, my digging was uncommon

— and that kind of pursuit naturally leads to a surpassing faith.

That made a lot of sense to me.

She went on to explain that people — like the prophetic woman I had emailed — carry

different prophetic messages. These messages can sometimes feel confusing, but that

doesn’t mean they’re false. Prophetic words hold true when they align with God’s Word.

As we shared stories over coffee, she helped answer lingering questions that had been

weighing on my spirit. By the time we parted ways, I felt content — settled.

When I arrived home, God answered another prayer. I received the first batch of my

newly published book, Beyond Understanding, a day earlier than expected. I was

overwhelmed with excitement and immediately signed a few copies that had already

been purchased.

Later that evening, while cooking dinner, I did some research on podcasts and noticed a

reply to the email I had sent earlier. What she wrote confirmed exactly what my friend

had tried to explain during coffee.

The email began with this scripture:

John 14:26

“But the Comforter (counselor, helper, intercessor, advocate, strengthener,

standby), the Holy Spirit, whom the Father will send in My name, He will teach you

all things. And He will cause you to remember everything I have told you.”

That verse alone brought a smile to my face.

She continued:

“Our faith does not grow just because we have accepted Jesus as our

savior. That is a false understanding that has held many Christians in a

stagnant position for most of their Christian life. We are required to ‘engage’

with the Holy Spirit and to ‘step into’ the things that God leads us to.

We cannot just sit and expect growth. You — (pointing me out as being

different) — have actively engaged with God, applying your faith within the

situations of life that have stood before you. Your faith is growing. You may

not see it or know it, but you have first-hand knowledge of a Father who

loves you and is fully aware of you.

Not every Christian has that awareness or knowledge, Jennifer, and you are

an exception to the normal Christian in many churches. You have seriously

responded to what you believe God has called you to do.”
